SpaceX Rally Revives AI Confidence as S&P 500 Nears Breakout
Can SpaceX’s rally help push the S&P 500 above resistance?
The S&P 500 is pushing toward its overnight highs as SpaceX earnings and softer oil prices give buyers some breathing room. The bigger question is whether that relief can carry stocks higher while the bond market works through today’s Treasury auction. I’m watching 7,790 on S&P futures for a breakout, with the broader index still holding a rising support line that keeps 8,000 or slightly above in view.
In One Minute
Stocks have a supportive combination this morning: encouraging earnings, slightly lower oil, and slightly lower yields. The opportunity is another move higher if S&P futures clear 7,790 and the daily index continues holding its ascending trend line. Today’s 20-year Treasury auction could test that backdrop, while earnings are creating very different setups across individual stocks. Bitcoin is also showing resilience, but it still needs to clear $87,200 to open the next upside target.
The Context
Lower oil and lower yields are helping the stock market, but the longer-term debt and inflation concerns have not disappeared. Inflation remains abnormally high, while government debt and the global money supply continue growing. That leaves room for yields to fall in the current setup without assuming they will return to pandemic-era lows or stay lower indefinitely.
France’s government yield is around 5%, and its debt relative to economic output is around the United States’ level. The difference is growth: the United States generally has stronger economic growth, giving it more capacity to carry that debt. Slower growth makes the burden heavier, as we saw during the 2011 debt crisis involving Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal.
Key Developments
S&P 500 Index (SPX) futures initially jumped after earnings, reached the previous session’s highs, and then pulled back into consolidation. An early rise in oil interrupted that strength, but futures began climbing again as oil faded into negative territory. For S&P 500 E-mini futures (ES), 7,790 is the immediate breakout point near yesterday’s high.
On the daily index chart, I’m staying bullish while the ascending support line holds. That structure keeps the target around 8,000 or just above. A meaningful break below the rising support would change that outlook, so the bullish view remains tied to what price actually does.
The 10-year yield is slightly lower and moving unevenly, but its developing structure points toward potential further downside. A bear flag is forming, meaning the current pause follows a decline and could lead to another move lower. There is also a possible head and shoulders pattern, with a central high between two lower highs.
That second pattern still needs to break its neckline, the support beneath it, before the downside target becomes active. If it triggers, the measured target is 4.7%, and several earlier highs line up around that same area. That overlap gives the target more significance, although it does not guarantee the pattern will complete.
Today’s 20-year Treasury auction at 1 PM is the immediate catalyst, with an offering of approximately $13 billion. I’m watching whether demand is strong or limited and how yields respond. Lower yields would be encouraging for prospective mortgage borrowers, but this setup does not establish how low mortgage rates might go.
Oil is slightly lower after pushing higher overnight. That reversal is helping ease pressure on yields and supporting stocks. The daily chart also shows a rebound from horizontal support after an earlier retreat from rising resistance, keeping those existing boundaries relevant.
Gold confirmed a breakdown below its rising trend line yesterday, and today’s fractional gain has not repaired it. That broken support could now become resistance. The complication is that falling yields would usually help gold, yet gold’s own chart still looks weak.
Silver is slightly lower and has also broken down. It needs to reclaim $60 before the outlook starts turning bullish again. Until that happens, I’m treating the damaged structure as the controlling signal.
Natural gas has fallen for six consecutive sessions and broken its nearer ascending support line. The longer-term rising trend line near $2.73 remains the next important support reference. The earlier rally provided an opportunity to reduce exposure before this decline, while the current drop has brought price back into an area where the position was increased.
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SPCX), or SpaceX, is trading near $160 after closing around $148, a gain approaching 10% for a company worth roughly $2 trillion. Its earnings and plans for substantial additional data center construction are helping calm concerns about the artificial intelligence trade. The connection is computing demand: that planned expansion signals confidence that more capacity will be needed.
The daily chart had weakened considerably before earnings, and now I’m watching $171.85 as the next important resistance. A gap fill, a previous peak, and a trend line connecting earlier turning points all meet around that level, roughly $11 to $12 above the area discussed. If price surges there, I’m looking at a potential short for a day trade only, not a swing position held across sessions.
Meta Platforms, Inc. (META) reports after the closing bell, and my preferred setup is a pullback toward the approximately $650 zone. There is also a gap fill at $665, with a descending trend line adding another reference in that broader area. Those levels matter if earnings trigger a sharp decline.
If the stock surges instead, a trend line connecting previous highs could offer a quick day trade short. There is no specific price attached to that scenario, and it is not my main focus. I’m more interested in whether an earnings pullback reaches the identified buying area.
Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) delivered decent earnings, but guidance was not strong enough for the market. Shares are down about 5% or more in overnight and premarket trading after already trading around their 52-week lows. Price is also below the July 2026 low, opening the door to further downside.
I’m watching approximately $61.50, where a descending trend line running back to April 2025 comes into play. Nearby, an older gap runs from a previous close at $61.20 to the following session’s opening around $62.10, a move of almost $1 and more than 1%. The gap fill at $61.20 and a double bottom just below it provide additional support references.
That combination makes the area interesting for both a day trade purchase and a swing trade purchase. Several technical levels meeting together can improve the probability of a reaction, though they do not guarantee one. The trade depends on reaching that area, rather than reacting emotionally to the earnings headline.
AT&T Inc. (T) is getting hit after earnings and is trading around $21.91. The first level I’m watching is approximately $21.13, where a gap fill meets a small shelf of earlier trading. Another support sits at $20.60, followed by a previous low farther below.
Those additional supports matter because a break through the first level would still leave other areas where buyers previously appeared. They also provide references for evaluating an additional entry if the initial support is pierced. For now, I see this as a potential day trade rather than a swing trade.
Tesla, Inc. (TSLA) also reports after the closing bell, with the first major resistance just below $400 at a descending trend line. If earnings trigger selling, $350 is the support to watch, although I do not expect a decline that far. The earnings expectation leans toward a beat, while guidance remains the bigger question.
Robotics and autonomous driving give investors developments to look forward to beyond the immediate numbers. That can help sustain interest even when near-term guidance is weaker. The earnings reaction will show whether those expectations are enough to support the stock.
Bitcoin (BTCUSD) looks relatively strong on its 10-minute chart after repeatedly testing support on the daily chart. The clearly marked breakdown level is $81,000, and buyers have continued defending that area. That resilience is encouraging, but it is still a defense of support rather than a confirmed breakout.
The next question is whether Bitcoin can rally back to $87,200. That is the breakout level, and clearing it would open an upside target of $95,000 to $97,000. Until it breaks, those higher prices remain conditional targets, while $81,000 remains the important support reference.
Why It Matters
The relationship driving stocks is straightforward: softer oil and lower yields are arriving alongside encouraging earnings. SpaceX’s expansion plans are also helping restore confidence in computing demand. Gold is the complication because its technical breakdown remains in place despite a yield outlook that would usually support it.
For individual trades, I’m looking for several meaningful levels to meet in the same area. A gap fill returns price to an area skipped during an earlier move, while a previous high, low, or trend line adds another reference. That is why the SpaceX and Netflix setups deserve attention at their identified prices, with their different directions and holding periods kept separate.

Market Outlook: Opportunities and Risks
The broad opportunity remains an equity advance while rising index support holds, with 7,790 the immediate futures trigger. The conditional buying setups are more selective: Netflix near its overlapping supports, Meta on an earnings pullback, and AT&T at its nearby gap fill for a day trade. Each depends on price reaching the relevant area rather than chasing the initial move.
The risks remain specific to each chart and time frame. SpaceX at $171.85 offers a potential intraday short, while Tesla faces its first major resistance just below $400. Gold and silver remain technically damaged, natural gas has lost nearer support, and the Treasury auction could challenge the relief coming from lower yields.
What to Watch Next
First, I’m watching the 1 PM Treasury auction and whether the 10-year yield confirms either developing bearish pattern. Then the focus shifts to Meta and Tesla after the closing bell, including their price reactions and guidance. Across the other setups, the important tests are the identified gaps, trend lines, support zones, and breakout levels.
Bottom Line
Stocks have a supportive backdrop, but the next advance still needs confirmation above 7,790 on futures while daily index support holds. The Treasury auction and tonight’s earnings can test that optimism. Stay patient and let price reach the levels that make the trade worth taking.
