Bitcoin Reclaims $81,000 Despite Nasdaq Pressure, but $87,200 Still Blocks a Breakout
Can Bitcoin break $87,200 while the Nasdaq remains under pressure?
Crypto is holding key support levels despite pressure from the Nasdaq's sharp decline. Bitcoin’s recovery from below $81,000 keeps its bullish structure intact, but repeated tests of that level leave the market vulnerable. I’m watching $87,200 for an upside breakout and a daily close below $81,000 for a breakdown.
In One Minute
Bitcoin briefly fell to about $79,750 before recovering above $81,000, avoiding a decisive failure of support. That resilience matters while technology shares are under pressure, but Bitcoin still needs to clear $87,200 to activate its larger upside setup. Ethereum is also caught between support and resistance, while HBAR has pulled back toward a former breakout area. The opportunity depends on confirmation, with Bitcoin’s potential move toward $95,000 to $97,000 still conditional on breaking resistance.
The Context
Bitcoin usually follows the Nasdaq, so its ability to hold its structure during that market’s decline deserves attention. Still, holding up relatively well does not make the recent price action especially healthy. Repeated pressure on support and failed attempts at resistance leave me cautious, and I have no Bitcoin swing position, either long or short.
Key Developments
The immediate development is Bitcoin’s recovery after briefly breaking below its established trading range. Ethereum has also defended support without overcoming resistance, leaving its next directional move unresolved. HBAR offers a different setup because it has already broken above resistance and returned to test that area as support.
Bitcoin: $81,000 and $87,200 define the decision
Bitcoin remains between $81,000 support and $87,200 resistance, a roughly $6,000 range. It has tested resistance repeatedly, and a later rebound failed to reach that upper boundary before rolling over. Buyers have also defended support several times, including the recovery from about $79,750.
A break above $87,200 would open the bullish path toward $95,000 to $97,000. Until that happens, the upside target remains conditional. I’m willing to consider joining that breakout, but I’m not treating movement inside the range as confirmation.
Several chart features come together near the potential upside destination. A rising trend line is around $91,000 at this stage, and because it slopes upward, the price needed to reach it increases with time. If Bitcoin takes until late November, about six weeks away, that intersection could approach $97,000.
That does not mean Bitcoin has to move straight there or arrive on a fixed date. It could spend more time consolidating, break higher, pull back, and then continue advancing. The trend line provides a possible destination whose price changes with timing.
A measured move adds another reason to watch $96,000 to $97,000. That projection takes the size of Bitcoin’s earlier advance and applies a similar extension from the consolidation low. Previous price peaks also sit near that area, bringing the measured move, rising trend line, and earlier resistance together.
On the downside, a daily close below $81,000 would break the current bullish consolidation. The next support is $75,500, based on earlier price lows. I would begin with 25% of the intended position there rather than commit the entire allocation, because a broken consolidation leaves room for a deeper decline.
The more attractive area for the remaining allocation is around $67,000. Additional trend lines intersect within the broader $60,000 to $70,000 zone, reinforcing its importance. That buying plan depends on the assumption that the bear market low is already in place.
I still hold that view because Bitcoin interrupted its sequence of lower highs by making a higher high. Put simply, a rebound finally exceeded a previous rebound peak, which supports the broader bottoming case. That remains my working view until price action proves otherwise, even if the current consolidation breaks.
Ethereum: A breakout or a deeper buying opportunity
Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum’s token, has held its key support and also remained below resistance. That leaves it caught between two boundaries without a confirmed direction. A break above resistance would put a retest of $2,800 in view.
If support breaks instead, I’m looking for a move below $2,000. Just under $2,000 is where I would become a heavy buyer. For now, the plan depends on which side of the range gives way.
HBAR: Testing the former breakout area
HBAR broke above an established resistance area and has now pulled back toward that same region. I picked up a position on that retracement because former resistance is being tested as support. This is the kind of return to a breakout area where I look for a bounce.
My upside objective is around $0.10, representing a potential gain of more than 20%. The chart’s appeal comes from the breakout followed by a return to an important support area. I expect a bounce from that setup, with $0.10 defining the move I’m looking for.
Why It Matters
These setups are at different stages, so I’m treating them differently. Bitcoin and Ethereum remain inside ranges, while HBAR has returned to an area it previously broke above. Having those distinctions and price levels mapped out helps keep emotion from taking over when the market swings.
Key Details
| Asset | Current Area | Support | Resistance or Target | What Matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin | Recovered above $81,000 after reaching about $79,750 | $81,000; $75,500; around $67,000 within $60,000 to $70,000 | $87,200 breakout; $95,000 to $97,000 upside objective | Daily close below $81,000 breaks consolidation; 25% initial allocation near $75,500 |
| Ethereum | Between support and resistance | Buying interest just below $2,000 if support fails | $2,800 after a resistance break | Direction depends on a break from its range |
| HBAR | Retesting former resistance as support | Former breakout area | Around $0.10; potential gain above 20% | Position initiated on the pullback for a bounce |
Bull Case
Bitcoin’s bullish consolidation remains intact following its recovery above $81,000. Clearing $87,200 would activate the move toward the overlapping upside targets, while its higher high continues to support the broader bottoming view. Ethereum needs to break resistance for a $2,800 retest, and HBAR’s bullish setup rests on its return to former resistance as support.
Bear Case
A daily Bitcoin close below $81,000 would weaken the immediate structure and bring $75,500 into focus. That failure would leave room for a deeper decline toward the preferred accumulation area around $67,000 without automatically disproving the broader bottoming thesis. Ethereum also faces a move below $2,000 if its support breaks.
What to Watch Next
I’m watching whether Bitcoin can recover toward $87,200 and finally break through it. On the downside, the important confirmation is a daily close below $81,000, rather than another brief intraday move underneath it. For Ethereum, I’m watching its range boundaries, while HBAR’s immediate test is whether the former breakout area produces the expected bounce.
Bottom Line
Bitcoin’s next move depends on whether $81,000 holds and $87,200 breaks. Ethereum remains conditional on its own range, while HBAR already has a pullback trade in place. I’m keeping the entries and allocations tied to those setups and letting price determine when to act.
