Bitcoin Holds $75,500 as Bulls Face the Higher High Test
Can Bitcoin break its lower high and confirm a broader bullish shift?
Bitcoin (BTC) is surging about 6% after holding the critical $75,500 support level, while the broader market remains sensitive to rising yields and shifting central bank expectations. The bigger question now is whether Bitcoin can turn this rebound into a true change in market structure while stocks hold their bullish patterns and commodities work through very different setups.
In One Minute
Bitcoin is the main story. The $75,500 level survived two intraday breaks without a daily close below it, keeping the larger bull flag intact and triggering a strong rebound that likely includes some short covering. The next major test is the previous lower high. If Bitcoin breaks that level and establishes a higher high, the probability begins shifting away from another bear market rally and toward the possibility that the bear market low is already in.
Stocks remain technically constructive, with the S&P 500 Index (SPX) holding support and the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) maintaining a bull flag. The risk is coming from rising United States yields and uncertainty around central bank policy. Crude remains bearish, while gold and silver are still stuck in a sideways trade.
The Setup
The technical setup is fairly clean across the major markets.
Bitcoin is consolidating after a strong move higher, and that consolidation remains a bull flag as long as $75,500 holds on a daily closing basis.
The S&P 500 remains above its bullish support zone, while SPY is also consolidating in a bull flag. That keeps the stock market technically bullish for now.
The macro pressure is coming from interest rates. Markets initially reacted negatively after Kevin Morris raised interest rates and delivered a very hawkish message. Sentiment then improved as investors reconsidered the move and viewed greater fiscal discipline as potentially positive for confidence in the United States financial system.
The Bank of Japan then raised rates overnight but talked down the possibility of additional hikes. That brought uncertainty back into the market, and United States yields began moving higher again as investors questioned whether the Federal Reserve could eventually follow Japan toward tighter policy.
What Changed
Bitcoin held the level that mattered.
The Clarity Act procedural vote failed earlier in the week, Bitcoin sold off, and the price pierced $75,500 on two consecutive days. The important part is that neither session closed below that level.
Now Bitcoin is rebounding sharply, up about 6%, and some of that move likely reflects short covering after traders positioned for a deeper breakdown.
In stocks, the broader structure has not broken. SPX remains above support, and SPY continues to hold its bull flag despite renewed rate uncertainty.
West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil (WTI) is slightly lower but still holding above $100. Gold (XAU) is inching higher without establishing a clear direction, while Silver (XAG) is attempting a small breakout.
Digital Assets and Crypto
Bitcoin remains the most important setup.
The larger structure began with a breakout above the descending trend line from the all-time high. Bitcoin repeatedly tested that trend line before finally breaking through it and producing a powerful move higher. That created the flagpole.
Since then, price has been consolidating and repeatedly testing support. The latest test at $75,500 was the most important one, and it held.
As long as Bitcoin stays above $75,500, I continue to view the bull flag as intact. If buyers maintain control, $90,000 remains a possible upside objective in the coming days and weeks.
The next confirmation is a break above the previous lower high.
Bitcoin has been moving through a sequence of lower highs and lower lows. The current rally has not changed that structure yet. A higher high would.
If Bitcoin takes out the previous lower high, that would represent a meaningful change in character. At that point, the probability begins shifting away from this simply being another bear market rally and toward the possibility that the previous low marked the bear market bottom.
That does not mean Bitcoin could not pull back afterward. A retracement following a breakout would be normal. The key is that the market structure would finally stop producing lower highs and lower lows.
Ethereum (ETH) is showing a similar setup. Ethereum had its move higher, entered a bull flag, and held the corresponding support line. The structure remains constructive while that support holds.
Hyperliquid (HYPE) is different. Price reached clear parallel resistance and has already started pulling back. That remains a bearish setup from resistance even while Bitcoin and Ethereum look constructive.
Zcash (ZEC) has had an exceptional move higher, but the latest daily structure may be forming a long upper wick. That can become an early sign of exhaustion and raises the possibility that Zcash is approaching a top.
The rotation inside crypto is worth watching. If capital begins leaving assets like Zcash and Hyperliquid after their strong runs, some of that money could rotate toward Bitcoin and Ethereum for another leg higher.
Why It Matters
Bitcoin is sitting at a point where a strong rally is not enough by itself. The market needs a structural confirmation.
Holding $75,500 kept the bullish setup alive, but breaking the previous lower high would tell us something more important: buyers are no longer simply defending support; they are beginning to reverse the sequence of lower highs and lower lows.
At the same time, stocks remain bullish technically, but rising yields can keep pressure on risk assets even when the charts still look constructive.
Commodities are giving a very different message. Crude remains vulnerable to a deeper pullback, while gold and silver are showing more consolidation than directional conviction.
Key Levels
| Asset | Current Area | Support | Resistance or Target | What Matters |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | Up about 6% | $75,500 | $90,000, plus the previous lower high | $75,500 keeps the bull flag intact. A higher high would change the broader structure. |
| Ethereum (ETH) | Bull flag consolidation | Support line remains intact | The bullish structure remains valid while support holds. | |
| Hyperliquid (HYPE) | Pulling back | Parallel resistance | Price is reacting lower from resistance. | |
| Zcash (ZEC) | After a strong advance | A possible long upper wick raises the risk of exhaustion. | ||
| S&P 500 Index (SPX) | Fractionally lower | Bullish support zone | The broader stock market remains constructive while support holds. | |
| SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) | Bull flag consolidation | Bull flag support | The pattern remains bullish until proven otherwise. | |
| West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil (WTI) | Above $100 | Downside toward $93 or $92 | Crude remains bearish and vulnerable to a deeper retracement. | |
| Gold (XAU) | Slightly higher | Gold remains directionless and could stay choppy into year-end. | ||
| Silver (XAG) | Attempting a small breakout | Around $70 | Even a breakout quickly runs into resistance near the previous high. |
The most important level remains Bitcoin at $75,500. That is the line keeping the bull flag alive. After that, the previous lower high becomes the confirmation level that could change the larger Bitcoin structure.
For crude, $93 to $92 remains the minimum downside area I am watching.
Bull Case
For Bitcoin, the bullish case starts with $75,500 continuing to hold. The next step is a break above the previous lower high. That would establish a higher high and increase the probability that the bear market low has already been established.
Ethereum remains constructive as long as its bull flag support holds.
For stocks, SPX needs to continue holding its bullish support zone, while SPY needs to maintain the current bull flag.
Gold and silver could eventually make a larger move higher, but right now neither has produced the clean directional breakout needed to confirm that move.
Bear Case
Bitcoin weakens materially if $75,500 fails on a daily closing basis. That would damage the bull flag and remove the technical condition currently supporting the bullish view.
Even without a breakdown, failure to break the previous lower high would leave the existing pattern of lower highs and lower lows intact.
Hyperliquid is already reacting from parallel resistance, so the bearish setup remains active there.
Zcash needs to be watched closely because the possible long upper wick could signal exhaustion after its strong advance.
Crude remains bearish, with at least $93 to $92 still in play, and a larger retracement toward the area where the latest major advance began remains possible.
Rising United States yields are the broader macro risk for stocks and other risk assets.
What to Watch Next
The first thing I am watching is whether Bitcoin can take out the previous lower high. That is the technical confirmation that matters most.
The second is whether $75,500 continues to hold if Bitcoin pulls back.
I am also watching whether Ethereum maintains its bull flag support, whether Hyperliquid continues rejecting parallel resistance, and whether the possible long upper wick on Zcash develops into a more meaningful reversal.
In stocks, SPX and SPY need to continue holding their bullish structures while yields remain elevated.
For commodities, crude needs to be watched for a move toward $93 or $92. Silver is testing a small breakout, but resistance near $70 remains directly overhead. Gold continues to lack a clear directional signal.
Bottom Line
Bitcoin is driving the conversation because $75,500 held exactly where the broader bull flag needed it to hold, and the rebound has been strong enough to put the previous lower high back in play.
Stocks remain technically bullish, but rising yields are keeping macro pressure in the background. Crude still favors downside, while gold and silver remain caught in consolidation.
The important thing now is not to chase the move. Bitcoin has defended support, but the real confirmation comes when it proves it can break the lower high and change the larger structure.
